Nikon Museum in Tokyo
The Nikon Museum, Tokyo located close to Shinagawa Station seems to be an interesting place for everybody interested in photography and photography equipment.
I never visited this museum so far, but from what I've read it must give an excellent overview on the history of Nikon cameras and lenses.
Definitely worth thinking of visiting when in Tokyo.

Viral Nature Photo Challenge
I've been nominated by Joseph John Pucadyil to participate in a 7 day nature photo challenge. I need to post one photo a day for 7 days and nominate one person each day to pass this along so we can flood FB with great photos of nature.
If you want to click you through the hyperlinked paths of this viral game, and if you want to know how far it did go, find here the link to my very first post: Day 1: Cherry Blossom
I decided to share a series of pictures taken using my old Hasselblad 500 c/m camera on film.
Here is the stream of photographs I've been sharing during subsequent days.

Studio Photography - Featuring the new Hasselblad H6D
Karl Taylor shows how he uses the new Hasselblad H6D camera to do a studio shoot of cans with color colliding in the air.
An incredibly impressive setup to produce a most impressive image. A challenge for high speed photography resulting in one of the most dynamic pictures I have ever seen for a studio setup.

Photo Critique
Ever thought of getting your photos critiqued? - There is nothing better to learn and improve your photography than by facing criticism.
Photographer Jared Polin critiques every week a set of photographs entered for critique by random photographers.
Maybe I should put together a series of my photographs to get them critiqued...
If you are interested then have a look at the critique videos on Jared Polin's YouTube channel or on his website:

Spring Landscape from the Airplane
On one of my recent flights when approaching Zurich airport I took a series of pictures using my iPhone 6s with the Camera+ App.
It was a beautiful spring evening at 6.30 p.m. Just at the season of the year when trees and fields become green again. The first yellow rape fields are in full bloom.
And, cherry and apple trees - white spots in the greenish landscape - are for a short period flourishing.
Shooting from a regular airline plane is always tricky and needs a bit of luck in order to get good shots.
Usually the windows are quite dirty and do not allow to get high quality shots.
This time the cloud coverage was just right to give interesting texture of sunlit and shadowed areas in the landscape underneath.

Hasselblad Camers - The New H6D
Hasselblad high end cameras ever occupied the high end segment of professional photography.
Many very famous photographs have been taken using Hasselblad.
The following video features the new Hasselblad H6D camera which comes at the price of a decent car.
The Hasselblad system offers medium format digital sensors with as much as 100 megapixels. Cutting edge glass, and many features designed for the professional photographer.
While this digital monster probably just remains a dream for most camera addicts the older analog versions of Hasselblad cameras become quite affordable nowadays.
Here another video explaining the functioning of this piece of mechanical precision engineering.

Film Photography - Adding Value to a Photography Business
Currently photography business is struggling. With digital technology becoming available at almost no cost to everybody the value of images has been constantly decreasing.
What do creatives do in order to increase the value of their work? - What can be done in order to value the artistic and creative part in photography?
Read the following article about Charlie Kingsland-Barrow and how learning to shoot film transformed her photography business completely. - "How Film Photography Will Transform Your Business"
What are the main messages:
- It enables to increase prices: Since with film one is entering a niche, and film photography has a different value proposition than the commonly used digital photography, one is not competing with the cheap mass of photography services any more.
- It gives a unique style: With unpredictability and less flexibility in postproduction film photography is more style defining than digital. The selection of the film, and the photographers own preference in evaluating the right exposure gives unique style. Not being in constant reactive trial and error mode, but having to decide for an exposure and seeing the result at a stage where no new picture can be taken adds character to the photographers style.
- If frees up time: The amount of editing required becomes much lower if a good quality film lab is used. The work happens again on the scene when shooting.

Excellent photography from different adventurous nature places around the world.
Chris Burkard has an impressive style. Landscape photographs not only on that one sunny day but capturing the power and uniqueness of harsh weather conditions which adds character and dynamics to his images.
Besides pictures from well known landmarks Chris' portfolio exhibits some nice detail captures showing the texture and patterns of details in interesting landscapes.
These are amazing artistic images showing the beauty of nature in details set into the right frame.
Imagine having this artwork decorating the wall in your house. Chris does offer prints for sale on his website.

Tropical Islands
Why is it so rewarding and relaxing to stay on a tropical island?
Did you ever experience the recharging feeling when staying on a tropical island for a couple of days? - Almost all people enjoy the stay on a lonely island and find it relaxing. This is an interesting observations.
Yes, on an island you are immediately disconnected from every days life. This helps in going into a different mood and recovering from stress, busy work, conflict, irritation, ...
But what else could contribute to that relaxing feeling?
Islands are surrounded by water. This gives some protection. The water is never still, but has a very monotone flow with waves hitting the shore of the island. Interestingly the waves are always moving towards the island no matter on what side of the island you are. - This can be explained, since this is pure physics. But is there more philosophical or spiritual rationale to it?
Waves are transporting energy. With all waves from the endless ocean moving towards one center, which is your island of residence, you are at the main absorbing center of that energy. - Recharging from the busy world by just resting at the center of the oceans wave dynamics!
