Wildlife Photography: Japanese Snow Monkeys
The snow monkeys from Joshin'etsukogen National Park in Japan are famous.
Famous for taking a bath in the hot springs while outside it is snowing. This should be a target for every ambitious nature and wildlife photographer.
Here a National Geographic documentary: link

Cine Still Film - Motion Picture Film for Still Photography
CineStillFilm: "For the first time ever, motion picture cinema film is now available for standard 35mm still photography and processing!"
The film has special features such as ultra fine grain for maximum sharpness. It brings some of cinematographic glamour to your still photography.
I bought some of this film. For what occasion should I expose these rolls? - I am still indecisive.
Further more I am waiting for the 120 medium format versions to come out. CineStill is still fundraising at indiegogo.com.

Scenic Places in Black and White - Golden Gate Bridge
Baker Beach - Arleta Rogozinska (500px) |
Shooting the Golden Gate Bridge in black and white opens up some interesting possibilities.
Black and white is well suited to picture the silhouette of this iconic man build landmark.
The special weather conditions in the area give rise to interesting light conditions or limited visibility sceneries with fog, clouds, and low available light.
Not only light and weather conditions but also the geographical surroundings are very interesting.

Influential Photographers: Scott Rinckenberger
Watch this portrait of Scott Rinckenberger. - Scott is an amazing landscape and adventure photographer. As an advocate for mirrorless Olympus OM-D - a camera well suited for mountaineering - he shows how famous adventure pictures are taken.
Some of his landscape shots are truly unique. Scott has a special sense for unique light conditions. Check out some of his fine art panorama shots in his portfolio: link
It's not only the landscape but also the exposure he finds.
Many of his landscape images are back lit. Such as these snowy mountain scenery with the trees and the sun hitting them from the back.
Or te image on the left. A mysterious landscape somewhere around Meteorite Peak in Alaska.

Expert Talk - Chase Jarvis on Strobe Sequences
Photographer Chase Jarvis and his crew explain how the strobe sequence of freestyle skiers was taken.
They elaborate on technical challenges they were facing when preparing for this series of sequence shots.
The main challenge is having a strobe system which is strong enough in order to have the reach to freeze the athlete in action and second to have a short enough recharging time in order to keep the sequence.

Medium Format Film Cameras
On shootingfilm.net a post by Hkanh Hmoong features a series of famous medium format film cameras.
Only to mention two of the cameras presented on this blog there is the Rolleiflex 2.8F twin lens camera. It is a TLR (twin lens reflex system). A classic for portrait and action photography. The camera has been built in Germany right after world war II in 1949.
The second one to mention is the Mamiya RZ67. This is a medium format single lens reflex camera. The first model has been released in 1982 but the camera was built until later than 2004.
